MIDGETSONG 1998

(to the tune of the Afrikaans song  ”Mamma I want a man”)

tekst bemanning 26' Midget -Murphy-

Mamma I want to have a boat.  What kind of boat my darling child ?
Do you want a rowing boat? No, Mama, no. A rowing boat I do not want,
‘Cause row a boat I surely can’t *
For what I really hanker, are all these Midgets here at anchor

Mamma I want to have a boat. What kind of boat my darling child ?
Do you want a fine canoe? No Mamma, no. A fine canoe I do not want,
‘Cause paddle such thing I really can’t. *
For what I really hanker, are all these Midgets here at anchor.

Mamma I want to have a boat. What kind of boat my darling child ?
Do you want a surfing board? No, Mamma, no. A surfing board I do not want,
‘Cause standing on a plank I can’t*
For what I really hanker, are all these Midgets here at anchor.

Mamma I want to have a boat. What kind of boat my darling child ?
Do you want a fishing boat? No, Mamma, no. A fishing boat I do not want,
‘Cause bait a hook may hurt my hand.
For what I really hanker, are all these Midgets here at anchor.

Mamma I want to have a boat. What kind of boat my darling child ?
Do you want a Midget then? Yes, Mamma yes. A Midget is my true desire,
To take its tiller is what I do aspire,
For what I really hankers, is join this Midget fleet that’s here at anchor.

(N.B. “Can’t” to be pronounced the British way)

Did you know the Midget Club has an other song, sung at their annual reunion?
Here (with special permission) is my free translation, sorry,
couln't manage the rhyme:

Alltogether sailing in our Midgets, who will join.
North on the Lakes, South on the Sea,
Once a year, with many vessels, they congregate,
as initiated and planned by a guy called Len (Leendert Koppenol)
Conveeners, from everywhere, of sailing they are fond,
Alltogether they soon will join in this happy refrain.

A Midget (3x) There's nothing like you in all of Europe,
A Midget (3x) No other boat would please me so,
My chubby little tub (3x) No boats's as much fun as you
My chubby little tub )3x) No boats's as much fun as you.

Frankly,it has a better beat in Dutch, but you'll get the "drift"?
